As some of you may know before we left the country we spent two weeks in Hammond Louisiana. We worked alongside Samaritans Purse doing disaster relief from hurricane Ida. Not only did I learn a lot about demolition, black mold, tree removal, and roofing I also learned how ready America is for the gospel. So often we forget that our neighbors still need to hear the good news of Jesus and I learned that their hearts are more ready than ever to receive his good news. We saw multiple people come to Christ just because we fix their home and shared his love.

The second biggest thing I saw God do in those two weeks was give people hope for the next generation. After getting to talk and work alongside many of the Samaritans purse staff they had said that they we’re concerned for the next generation and couldn’t see how God would work through it. However, after getting to know us and work alongside us they felt more than ever that the coming generations could be the most promising. They felt called to no longer worry for our generation but rather pray for our generation. And I encourage you all to do the same thing as you look at your children, grandchildren, and people you pass on the street. Don’t look at them and worry but instead give them your prayers and know that with God there is always hope.
Thank you Samaritans Purse staff for all the work you do not only manual labor but also sharing the gospel! You loved us all very well!!
Blessings!!

  6. It’s so good to hear from you! I basically am; I’m allowed to use my computer for increments of time, so I’ve been reading all your posts and sharing with my family! My parents are both so excited every time I share more news. I’ve missed you so much, too! I’ve been thinking a lot about our study halls and movie times and all of our wonderful moments in choir. So thankful for our friendship and memories!!

  7. Kristy, I’m encouraged by your words. As a grandmother and great grandmother, I have been worried about the younger generations. I pray that they will become closer to the Lord in these difficult days. Hard times, through the ages, have caused people to the search for answers and help. They need to hear the Gospel and see the kind works that Christians do. Bless you as you continue on in your Gap Year journey.
