I have now been living in Georgia and attending the discipleship school Center of Global Action (CGA) for three months. The transition here hasn’t been the easiest and I appreciate all of your prayers during this season of my life. However, one of the things I have been especially blessed with is the community of the girls I get to live with. They have been an incredible support system, opportunity for growth, and overall amazing friends.

I wanted to share with you one of the ways I have already gotten to see the fruit of this program in my own life. One of CGA’s core values is knowing your identity in Christ. They believe that you cannot lead yourself or others if first you do not know who you are trying to lead and the value you hold. The first couple weeks of class we have spent a lot of time learning who we believe we are, who our culture says we are, and who God says we are. It has been a blessing to get to live in a community that is safe to grow in, challenge in, and fail in and we have all been doing a lot of those things.  As our time learning about our identity has ended, we had the chance to go worship and pray with the upcoming world racers that are at campus for training. During worship I felt the Lord ask me to pray for one of the girls in the front row. I kept asking God what He wanted me to pray for but all I heard was “Go.” Fortunately, after hearing only the word go from God all over the world the last year doing missions, I am used to it. So, with no further direction I slowly approached this adorable girl who looked a little lost in the sea of people surrounding her. I asked if I could pray over her and as any dutiful Christian she said yes, and God’s consistent character showed up again. He told me exactly what He wanted me to speak into her life about and pray over her. He asked me to pray over her identity and speak truth over her. He told me to pray against all the misconceptions and lies she believed about herself and may have been told throughout her life. As I prayed, she slowly melted into my arms and she wept for the first time in years.

The Lord has shown me the last couple months about the importance of knowing who my identity is in Him and the inheritance He offers. I have learned that I can only pour out and offer the gifts that I have already been given through Christ.  Through a confidence of my identity God gave me the opportunity to pour out the same gift into someone else. I am excited to see how He will move as He prompts me to pour out.

  1. Dear Kristy, I have anxiously waited to hear a report on your time in the Discipleship School. I am thrilled to hear about your progress. It is amazing how you continue to grow in knowledge, wisdom and your confidence in God’s leading. I am praying for you and a young man, Wesley Clifford, from Bethel Baptist who is on an adventure in Ethiopia. It is so exciting to see you young people getting training and seeking God’s plan for your lives. Your prayer partner, Diane Johnston
